One of my favorite Quotes about Island Living

November 01, 2006 marks the official fifth anniversary of the Big Show on Newstalk K-57 and also my 15th year in the Marianas. (I got here September 21st 1991)

In a bit of an introspective mood today I was thinking about the things I like best about island living and I was reminded of this gem taken from the pages of The Edge of Paradise by P.F. Kluge

If you dream of islands, dream of them at dawn, on the border between night at day, sleep and waking; dream of them when they are cool and hushed, before heat and light chase the dream away.

This shaded nuanced time is precious, for the sun comes up at full glare, poaching what it does not fry; the humidity rolls in as regularly and almost as wetly as the tide. Cherish the edges of the day and survive the middle.
